Credentials Configuration
This guide will show you how to configure and manage your credentials in the Heptora local Robot.
Prerequisites
Section titled “Prerequisites”Before starting, make sure you have:
- The Heptora Robot installed and activated on your Windows system
- Your Heptora platform username and password
Logging into the Robot
Section titled “Logging into the Robot”There are two ways to log into the robot, depending on your situation:
First Time: After Installation
Section titled “First Time: After Installation”If you just installed the robot:
- Open the Heptora local robot
- A login window will appear automatically
- Enter the same username and password you use to access the Heptora web app
- Click “Sign in”
If the Robot is Already Installed
Section titled “If the Robot is Already Installed”If the robot is already installed but you haven’t logged in:
- Access the “show hidden icons” button in the Windows taskbar
- Locate the Heptora icon
- Right-click on the Heptora icon
- Select “Settings” or “Secrets” from the menu
- The login window will appear automatically
- Enter your credentials and click “Sign in”
What are Robot Credentials?
Section titled “What are Robot Credentials?”The credentials you use to log into the robot are the same ones you use for the Heptora web app. These credentials allow you to:
- Access Recordings: Capture and create new automated processes
- Manage Secrets: Securely store credentials and sensitive data
- Activate the Robot: Link the local robot with your Heptora account
- Sync configuration: Keep your settings updated across devices
Managing Secrets
Section titled “Managing Secrets”Once logged in, you can manage secrets (sensitive credentials) for your automations:
Access Secrets Management
Section titled “Access Secrets Management”- Right-click on the Heptora icon in the taskbar
- Select “Secrets”
- The secrets management interface will open
What are Secrets?
Section titled “What are Secrets?”Secrets are credentials, passwords, tokens, and other sensitive data that your automations need but must be kept secure. For example:
- Application passwords
- API tokens
- Database credentials
- Digital certificates
Logging Out
Section titled “Logging Out”If you need to log out of the robot:
- Right-click on the Heptora icon in the taskbar
- Select “Log out”
- Confirm the action if prompted
Common Troubleshooting
Section titled “Common Troubleshooting”I can’t log in
Section titled “I can’t log in”- Verify you’re using the correct Heptora web app credentials
- Check your internet connection
- Make sure the robot is updated to the latest version
I can’t find the robot icon
Section titled “I can’t find the robot icon”- Check the “hidden icons” area in the taskbar
- Verify the robot is running (look for “Heptora” in Task Manager)
- If it’s not active, open Heptora from the Start menu or desktop shortcut
I forgot my password
Section titled “I forgot my password”If you forgot your password:
- Go to the Heptora web app
- Click “Forgot your password?”
- Follow the instructions to reset your password
- Once reset, use the new password in the robot
